What Is Piles Disease?

Piles are also known as hemorrhoids. These are enlarged blood vessels. It can occur around or inside your anus. The anus is the opening of your bottom.

The blood vessels are very normal. You do not have to think about that. Because your anus plays a significant role in our daily life. But these blood vessels can be dangerous when it expands. These enlarged blood vessels are the reason behind piles.

Piles normally look like small, round, discolored lumps. You will be able to feel them around your anus. Also, these can be hanging down inside your anal. Spongy tissue with blood vessels grows in line and helps to close your anus. All these are fine but these can also develop as piles.

  2. The second degree; is the stage where the piles will come out of your anus. But they will go back inside your anus afterward on their own.
  3. Third-degree pile-s; only go back when you push them back in physically. Piles will come out of your anus.
  4. Fourth-degree piles; will not go back inside your anus. Even if you do push them back. In this stage piles only hang down from your anus. They become very painful and swollen if the blood inside them clots.

External piles are swellings. They develop further down your anal canal. Also closer to your anus, especially when they have a blood clot in them, they are very painful.

It is not impossible to have both internal and external pile-s together.

Causes Of Piles

When the veins in your anal become swollen pile-s develop which may happen for a couple of reasons, such as:

  1. If you have constipation or long-time diarrhea it can happen.
  2. Age also matters in this place. Your anal canal weakens with the age. It can also be the reason behind piles.
  3. Having an everyday cough.
  4. Or it can also happen if u are lifting very heavy objects.

  2. A lump around or in your anus.
  3. Your underwear can be stained by a slimy discharge of mucus from your anus.
  4. You will be feeling like you have not finished or completely emptied or like discomfort or fullness in your anus.
  5. Your skin will be really itchy or sore skin around your anus.
  6. You will feel pain or discomfort after you go to the toilet.

These things or symptoms can be different from others. These symptoms can also cause by other problems, such as cancer, bowel cancer, an anal fissure, and inflammatory bowel disease. So do not always think it is hemorrhoid if you have these symptoms. Contact your nearest doctor to get some advice.

The first sign which will tell the presence of piles (hemorrhoids) is rectal bleeding. Also, straining can also push internal hemorrhoid which is called prolapsed or protruding hemorrhoids. This can be painful for you.

You will feel like you could not complete your poo. You can also notice slimy mucus in your underwear or on toilet paper after wiping your anus. Pain and lumps can be felt around your anus.

Diagnosis Of Piles

First, you will have to talk with your GP about your symptoms. And then your GP will examine you. They can gently put their finger inside your anus to feel the rectum you have. You will not have to worry about the pain because they will use gloves and apply some kind of gel to make it more comfortable. If necessary, a proctoscope can be used. For this, your GP will tell you or may refer you to a specialist doctor to observe inside your rectum. Proctoscope is a short, rigid tube-like instrument.   

If you are bleeding too much you might need to have a blood test to know if you have anemia. It occurs when you have a lack of red blood cells or hemoglobin in your blood. Hemoglobin is a component of blood that carries oxygen.

After the examination, if your GP finds out something else, your GP may tell you to go to the hospital to do more tests. These symptoms can also lead to bowel cancer.

Some small changes to your diet and lifestyle will help you with the symptoms of pile:

  1. You should eat a fiber diet. It will help you to poo easier to pass because it will help your poo to be softer. When you have a poo the pressure on the veins in your anus will be reduced which causes by straining.
  2. Try to avoid too much tea or coffee. But drink enough fluid to keep yourself hydrated.
  3. Always try not to strain when you have a poo. Clean around your anus gently with water. Try to keep the area dry.
  4. Every day keep yourself active. Exercise each and every day. You will find some difficulty when you will do some exercise. Such as cycling can be difficult if you have external pi-les. You can get a comfortable cushioned seat pad or, you can also switch to something else for a while. Usually, physical activity is good for your health which should not make your piles worse.
